At MyPetSavings.com, we believe an elected official should be someone you trust. But, inevitably, these politicians always let us down so why not elect someone who you can fully trust? The residents of Talkeetna, Alaska did just that! 15 years ago they wrote in the part-manx cat Stubbs, to be their mayor and he has been ever since. Found in a box of kittens given away in front of a well known corner store in the town,which also doubles as the mayor’s office, Mayor Stubbs was a write-in on the ballot of the 900 person town when they were fed up by their two-legged candidates.
Mayor Stubbs is very well liked by the residents,saying he doesn’t interfere with local small businesses, and he doesn’t raise sale taxes. His approval rating is through the roof, and seems fit to stay in the position for a while.
Although the residents believe that he is a great mayor, he does seem to have some diva-like qualities associated with him. In his office, he only likes his water to be served in a wine glass, with catnip in it. He also meows all day long at people, begging to be picked up and placed on the counter, and then goes off for a long afternoon nap. Even though the residents have to deal with his demanding issues, they have no problem with it, as Mayor Stubbs has become a huge sensation on the Internet and brings in tons of tourists to see him every year.
