Coming in at 3 feet and 8 inches tall, and standing 7’2″ on his hind legs, Zeus the Great Dane is known as the world’s tallest dog for the 2013 Guinness Book of World Records. At only three years old, Zeus eats an entire 30 pound bag of food a day! Beating the previous winner of the world record Giant George by just one inch, Zeus is a gentle giant with a playful personality. Although he is the world’s tallest dog and weighs 150 pounds, his owner Denise Doorlag says he loves to jump on her family’s laps like a small dog and enjoys being around people. Around town, people always ask if Zeus is something other than a Great Dane; many ask is he’s half bear, or others, even half horse. Denise just laughs and says he’s 100% Great Dane. Although Zeus is 7’2″ on his hind legs, average Great Danes are no strangers to being giant, as they can grow up to be around 6 feet tall on their hind legs! Zeus has appeared on many different television shows including “Good Morning America” and “Inside Edition”. When he’s not being a celebrity on television, Zeus volunteers his time at a hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan as a therapy dog. Being the giant that he is, Zeus can easily go up to the patient’s beds and be face to face with them.
